The Nashville Predators offer Peter Forsberg the following contract:

Term: 1 Year 7M

Reasons:
-Forsberg will be wearing an A
-Top 6 forward role, Possibly Top line
-Played with us before
-1 Year contract offers no strings
-Chance to mentor some young players while playing for a team that will push for the playoffs

Pheonix Coyotes are offering Mr. Forsberg the following contract.

Term: 2 years 16M (8M/yr cap hit)

Reasons:
- Forsberg is guaranteed a spot on the number one line and number one powerplay unit.
- He will have an opportunity to play for the great Wayne Gretzky and with some of the up and coming greats!
- He will join a stable franchise that has made subtle but significant changes this off season.
- His signing is the Coyotes number one priority as he will provide playoff experience and leadership to a team who is expecting to be in the playoffs for the first time in many years.
- A no-trade clause.

Colorado Avalanche change our offer to 1 years 7.0M
Reasons:
-Wear the C after Sakic retires
-Play on the team he considers home
-Chance at a deep playoff run

Forsberg has taken enough time this off season to think about all of the offers he was given. He was very flattered by the interest expressed in him after suffering through injury difficulties the past few seasons.

Forsberg has decided that the package put forth by Phoenix is too good to refues. The compensation, opportunity to re-establish, and stability of a 2 year commitment combined with a NTC have convinced him that the Coyotes are a team on the verge of something special.
