The Colorado Avalanche offer Johan Motin the following contract:
Term: 3 years 2.40M (0.800 M/yr cap hit )
Reasons:
-Will be top of depth chart in defensive prospects
-Play with a very good Lake Erie Monster Team
-Chance to be called up in case of an injury

The Vancouver Canucks would like to offer UFA Johan Motin D, a contract of 2 yrs 1.8 Million dollars paying him 900k a year (cap hit .900 M)
he will get a chance to compete for the sixth or seventh dman spot on the Canucks roster next year.
will get to play his first year with the Moose a team that conends for the Calder Cup every year.
will fit in instantly in a system filled with Scandinavian players Salo, Ohlund, Edler, Rahimi, Hansen and Axelsson

Johan is happy to get offers like these. His understanding is that he will more than likely end up in the AHL as both teams are deep on defense.
He accepts Colorado's offer. Although it is less then the other offer it is for three years. This added stabilty is what swung his decision. He is looking forward to heading to camp and fighting for a roster spot and if he comes up short he will head to the AHL and work hard waiting for his chance to prove himself.
